Big Dot had found success selling their products on various marketplaces including Amazon, but failed to have a brand that resonated with their customers and kept them coming back for more. They partnered with CM.co to position the brand and build a identity that was retail ready and distinctive in the party space.

With Amazon as the primary source of business, Big Dot was handicapped by not having customer visibility and battled with low-cost overseas competitors. They wanted to know and build strong relationships with their audience and knew that building a brand was the way to do that. Our challenge was to help them not only build the brand, but also to create positions and process to market and steward the brand internally.

Visual Identity Development

Over a ten month process, we led a full brand development process focused on creating a party brand that was approachable, engaging and fun! Our work touched everything from e-commerce design to visual merchandising to photoshoots to packaging. We built a strategic launch campaign and worked with leadership to build and train internal teams to support consumer business and marketing efforts.

Communication Tactics

We helped to stand up a consumer-facing marketing department and delivered tactical guidelines and strategy for engagement. From social strategy to content production guidelines and partners, we helped build both visual and verbal communications that expressed the brand ethos and felt fresh 
and differentiated in the marketplace.

Outcome

CM.co built a brand that leaned into the spirit of celebration by creating an identity and communications framework that was focused on the joy and happiness of being together with friends and family. Smiles and laughs are at the heart of all celebrations and were a big part of Big Dot. Capturing this spirit was the focus of our work.
